WHO ARE WE?
Michael Sanders
Founder & CEO, EDIB/Immortality
Michael Sanders, known as Michael Mizzwerk, was born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut. He started playing basketball when he was five years old. The only person in his family to embrace the sport, he had to rely on himself as a coach and trainer. Through hard work, endless practice, and countless hours watching other players dominate the courts, he perfected his skills and became a top high school player in his hometown. He was named League MVP and scored over 1,500 points during his high school basketball career.
His talent took him from the local basketball court to the college basketball courts of Iona College in New Rochelle, New York and Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina where he played combo guard. A highlight of his career at Iona was a buzzer beater 3-pointer in a game against Fairfield University, in which he tied the game to go into overtime. The clip aired on ESPN for months after. Playing in the nationally recognized CIAA tournament was another college career highlight for Michael, but he wanted more than that. Michael went on to play at St. Augustine’s Chavis Summer League, and eventually trained with Leading Sprint & Strength Coach Trevor Graham. Michael compiled a video that he used to reach out to an agent in California, who landed him the opportunity to play at a higher level. Michael made his mark and was offered the opportunity to play professionally.
Michael then left the states and headed to Portugal where he played for the BC Guimaraes. From there, he headed to Kosovo where he had his breakout season, leading the league with an average 33.5 points, 5.8 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 4.2 steals and 1 block. He was chosen to play in the 2005 Asian Cup in Dubai before landing his next gig with Nassur Club. With this new team, Michael was named the league MVP with an average 32 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals per game. He led the league in scoring that year also.
The following year, Michael found himself with Ittihad Club, the number one ranked basketball team in Saudi Arabia. He led the team to the championship game, adding 23 points total, 6 of them 3-pointers, and 6 assists. His career continued in Saudia Arabia the following year, taking him to the Al wenda Club where he averaged 31.3 points, 5 assists, 4 steals, and 5 rebounds. From there he joined the Robert Wang tour to China, where he led his team in scoring and assists.
Michael’s final professional gig was in Puerto Rico, and despite loving his basketball career, his heart was elsewhere. Michael knew that he wanted more than just playing professional basketball; he wanted to help other athletes achieve their dreams, too. Michael left Puerto Rico and returned to his hometown of Waterbury where he started his own training business in 2010. First known as Seque Training, the company operated a number of basketball camps that benefitted high school athletes wanting to improve their basketball skills.
From there, Seque grew into a more personalized training experience for talented athletes where Michael shared his vast knowledge of the game, strength and conditioning exercises, and overall basketball training expertise to improve player performance. Seque eventually became known as Mizzwerk, both a company and a philosophy that focuses on hard work and dedication to achieve your goals.
